It was a shame to see Alex’s career cut down because of a tough knee injury, but overcoming that through rehab, she really ended her career with a bang. Here is her profile:

Alex Reigle – Elba High School – Girls Basketball

5’7″ – Senior

Career Highlight #1 – “Scoring 22/39 points in our sectional semifinal game.”
Career Highlight #2 – “Beating ND our freshman year at home.”
Career Highlight #3 – “Making it to the sectional finals my junior year.”

Favorite thing about High School Sports: “My favorite thing about HS Sports is the relationships created with your teammates. We’ve played together for so long we’ve become a family.”

Most memorable moment in High School Sports career: “My most-memorable moment in HS Sports is going undefeated my freshman year.”

Plans after High School: “Attending a four-year college majoring in nursing and continuing my basketball career.”

AB: The season began difficult for you, with your injury and all. Did that give you extra energy toward the end of the season when you came back – knowing this was your last run?

AR: Yes, it definitely did. I had a whole season to make up in 5 games and nothing to lose. And knowing it was my last run made me give it everything I had. My motivation came from my injury by knowing I should’ve been playing all year – I had a lot to make up for.

AB: Moving forward, do you believe the younger players on your team have what it takes to further the success you and your previous teammates have set forth at Elba?

AR: The dedication myself and previous teammates have put in definitely set a good example for the younger players. I believe the future is bright. These younger players put a lot of work in during the offseason and it will help in the long run.

AB: Throughout your days as a Lancer, you accomplished a lot. What went into your success?

AR: When I came to Elba in 8th grade, our basketball team won states. Watching that team play motivated me. My role model was McKenzie Bezon. Her dedication, leading, and love for the sport amazed me. I wanted to be the player she was by the time I was a senior. She was also a reason behind my success.

AB: During your career, did you accomplish all you set out to?

AR: I wanted to be a top 5 player in Elba history, but my injury made that difficult. I know if I had a whole season this year I could’ve done that, but I’m happy with the way I ended my career. I think I accomplished a lot of the things I set out for but not all of them.

AB: Finally, when you look back on things, what will you remember most about being an Elba girls basketball player?

AR: The thing I’ll remember most about being an Elba girls basketball player is the love the community has for our team. They supported us through everything. I’ll also remember the program I played for the past 4 years. Basketball is always all-year round at Elba, and I loved it.

Moving forward, if Alex chooses to indeed pursue a collegiate basketball career, I’m certain she will find comparable success to what she found during her time in high school.
