Austen and the Hawks had a big year this year. Here is his profile:


 

 

Austen Vroman – Holley High School – Wrestling

 

6’3″ – 285 lbs – Senior

Career Highlight #1 – “Placing second at sectionals.”
Career Highlight #2 – “Being a GR All Star.”
Career Highlight #3 – “All Orleans County team.”

 

Favorite thing about High School Sports: “I love to compete.”

Most memorable moment in High School Sports career: “Pinning the Attica kid with :30 left.”

Plans after High School: “To go to GCC and come back to Holley and coach.”

 

 

AB: What got you interested in wrestling when you first started?

AV: Mr. Grillo because he used to always say I would be great (at it).

AB: What has kept you interested? In other words, what have you discovered about the sport since starting that you didn’t know before?

AV: I never knew I had potential until Middle School, and that’s when I started to win. 

AB: What is the most fun part about wrestling, in your opinion?

AV: The best part has to be when you’re losing and you end up getting the win.

AB: What’s the toughest part?

AV: The toughest part has to be going to coach Grillo’s practices every day.

AB: Finally, what are you most proud of, this past season?

AV: I’m very proud of becoming a GR All Star, as well as placing second at sectionals.
