Without two of their better players on Friday night, the Arcadia Boys Basketball team was still able to overcome Batavia on a late tip-in which won the game for the Titans by a final score of 52-51. In control throughout the game, the Blue Devils simply were not able to gain separation on the scoreboard down the stretch, allowing Arcadia to hang around and eventually go on to steal the game by one point. Here is the final basket which gave the Titans the win:

The loss was a tough one for the Blue Devils who have now fell to the top two teams on their schedule in Arcadia and U Prep – which draws cause for concern as their schedule will surely get increasingly more difficult down the stretch and into sectionals. If this team, now 8-2, hopes to compete with the top teams within their classification they will have to sure things up going forward.

Aside from the loss though, Batavia’s TeeSean Ayala showed positive signs as he was on absolute fire throughout the night – scoring 24 points on 8 three-pointers. He was the only Blue Devil to score in double-figures, however, which is definitely concerning for a team who has struggled to put the ball in the basket this season.

For Arcadia in the win, Zach D’Arpino led the Titans with 14 points, but it was the hot shooting from several of Arcadia’s sharpshooters which kept them in the game until Mev Odzakovich scored the winning bucket with under :20 to play.
