As August creeps up on us, it’s just about time for the 2019 HS Football season to kick off.

During the offseason, the Batavia Football team made a bit of news when they announced they will be joining the Livingston County League for the foreseeable future, which places them in LCAA Division I along with Hornell, Livonia, Bath, and Attica. Dansville was originally scheduled as the sixth member Division I, but has decided to opt for an independent schedule instead of enduring what would have been a daunting LCAA slate.

Here is Batavia’s 2018 regular season schedule:

Friday, August 31 vs Hornell

Friday, September 7 @ Livonia

Friday, September 14 vs Letchworth/Warsaw

Friday, September 21 @ Windsor (Section I)

Friday, September 28 vs Attica

Friday, October 5 @Wellsville

Saturday, October 13 @ Bath

Batavia will open the season with an extremely difficult matchup against defending Class B Champion Hornell, followed by another tough contest – against 2017 Class B runner-up Livonia in Week 2. This will put the Blue Devils to the test immediately and should quickly show us what to expect from this team this year.

“Playing in the LCAA is a great opportunity for our entire program,” says Batavia head coach Brennan Briggs. “Obviously opening up with Hornell and Livonia will be a challenge, but what better way to start off your season than versus two of the top-teams in Class B?”

Be sure to tune in over the next few weeks as my HS Football coverage begins to kick into full-gear. Training camp opens in a little over two weeks.
