A difficult first half killed Batavia Lacrosse’s chances last night vs a tough Newark team, as the Blue Devils allowed the Reds to jump out to a 10-1 lead at the half, and eventually fell by a final of 14-6.

“Newark came to play from the get-go, getting a large lead on us in the first half,” said Batavia head coach Matt Landfried after the game. “We came out ready to play in the 3rd quarter and looked like a whole new team. It would be safe to say if we would have played like that the whole game it would’ve been a much closer score.”

For Newark in the win, Parker Casselman led the way with 6 goals and 3 assists, while Taylor Clements was just behind with 4 goals of his own. In net, Talyn Pierce stopped 8 of 14 shots in 45 minutes.

In the loss, AJ Schultz, Eric Gimlin, Griffin Moore, Alex Snell, and Mike Marocco all scored for Batavia, while Dustin Veitch stopped 15/29 shots in 48 minutes between the pipes.

Next home game for Batavia will be April 18th vs Livonia.
