Today, I am ready to reveal my first regular season edition of 2017 HS Football Power Rankings – which is a list of the top teams within my coverage area. Some teams have advanced in my rankings, and some have fallen down the ladder:

1. Batavia (-)

Batavia lost their first game to a Section V opponent in three years this past Saturday (Aquinas) but remain as the top-team in the area and should get back on track this week vs Cardinal O’Hara.

2. Cal-Mum/Byron-Bergen (-)

The Red Raiders are 1-1 after a loss to Bath-Haverling, and a crushing victory over LetSaw. CMBB is strong both in the backfield, and up front, and could go undefeated the rest of the way – if they are able to get by rival Le Roy this week. (Submitted photo)

3. Attica (-)

Attica fell to Class B power Hornell in Week 1, and then rebounded with a shutout victory over Holley in Week 2. The Blue Devils face OAE in Week 3, which should be another victory, and then they will look forward to a matchup with defending GR champ Alexander in Week 4. That game may decide who wins the 2017 Divisional Title.

4. Alexander (-)

Alexander is 2-0 after two blowout wins over Bolivar-Richburg, then Pembroke. They have yet to face a formidable opponent, however, and we likely won’t learn much about them until they face-off with Attica in Week 4.

5. Le Roy (+2)

Le Roy is 2-0 heading into their matchup with longtime rival CMBB this weekend. If the Knights can move to 3-0, look for them to rise even higher in the Power Rankings.

6. Pembroke (-1)

Pembroke was dominated by Alexander this past Friday, dropping their record to 1-1. This week, the Dragons must beat Notre Dame if they hope to keep their heads above water within the Division.

7. Notre Dame (+1)

Following an embarrassing loss to Canisteo-Greenwood in Week 1, the Irish came back with a big Divisional victory over OAE in Week 2. If the Irish can beat Pembroke, they may have a chance at making a run within the Division.

8. Oakfield/Elba (+2)

OAE really beat up on Perry/Mt. Morris in Week 1, but came back in Week 2 with a putrid offensive performance. They must rebound in Week 3 in order to avoid dropping to 1-2.

9. York/Pavilion (-3)

York/Pavilion has put forth two uninspiring performances to begin the 2017 season. They currently sit at 0-2.

10. Holley (-1)

Holley has struggled in their first two 2017 matchups. It doesn’t get any easier in Week 3, as they welcome the defending Divisional Champion Alexander Trojans to town.
