The Notre Dame Football team endured a difficult season in 2016, but things are looking up for the Irish as they began training camp this week. Today was my third stop on the Batavia’s Best 2017 HS Football Training Camp Tour, and I was able to get a good feel for exactly what to expect from ND this season.

Defense was undoubtedly a struggle for the Irish throughout 2016, but this year they seem to be improving in that department.

Something else I was impressed with today was the numbers that the Irish have this year. Following a year where roster size was down across the board in the GR League, it’s good to see quality numbers drawn by each of the first two GR teams (see: Alexander) which I’ve visited during my Training Camp Tour.

Lastly, Notre Dame’s work in the weight room to conclude practice is something that may push them over the edge come the start of the regular season. The strongest, most-physically fit team is usually the one who wins, and the ability to push oneself is a key lesson, best-learned in the weight room.

Following practice, I caught up with a couple of Irish players and head coach Rick Mancuso. Hear what they had to say:

As I previously stated, the Irish have almost no where to go but up this season. And, with a steadily-improving roster, look for them to improve upon their 2017 finish.

Here are a few photos which I took during my time at ND practice:
