Here is the fifth edition of my 2018 HS Football Regular Season Power Rankings:

1. Batavia (6-0) –

Batavia demolished Wellsville in Week 6 and they look ahead to another easy matchup, vs Bath-Haverling on Saturday. The Blue Devils’ primary objective this weekend will be to remain healthy going into the Class B Postseason – at which point they will be a major favorite to take home the hardware.

2. Alexander (6-0) –

The Trojans took care of business with a 26-6 win over Notre Dame in Week 6, and continue to look like the far and away favorite to win it all in Class D. Alexander’s matchup with Perry/Mt. Morris will be something of a formality, as I expect Alexander to finish the regular season with an unblemished record for the third year in a row.

3. Attica (4-2) –

Following two-straight losses, to Livonia then Batavia, the Blue Devils rebounded nicely with a blowout win over Avon this past week. Attica closes the regular season with Geneseo this coming Friday night, a game which they should, and have to win if they want to enter the Class C Playoffs with a quality seed.

4. Le Roy (3-3) –

Le Roy suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Letchworth/Warsaw in Week 6 and must get a win in Week 7 vs Wayland-Cohocton if they hope to make the postseason. The Knights’ matchup with the Eagles won’t be an easy one, but it is certainly winnable.

5. Notre Dame (3-2) –

Notre Dame has now lost two-straight, following their Week 6 defeat at the hands of the Alexander Trojans. However, with a winnable matchup with Bolivar-Richburg coming up this weekend, look for the Irish to get back on track heading into the Class D Playoffs.

6. York/Pavilion (3-3) +1

Needing wins in Weeks 5 and 6 to remain in the playoff hunt, York/Pavilion took care of business and have given themselves a chance going into the regular season’s final week. The Golden Knights square off with Pembroke this Friday night, and I’m expecting Y/P to make it three in a row.

7. Cal-Mum/Byron-Bergen (2-4) -1

As expected, Cal-Mum/Byron-Bergen’s playoff hopes were officially dashed with a loss to Livonia in Week 6. They host Wellsville this Friday for their final game of the regular season.

8. Pembroke (2-4) –

Pembroke may have no chance to make the postseason, but the Dragons do have the opportunity to play spoiler in Week 7, as their opponent York/Pavilion fights for playoff positioning.
