It was an all-around solid performance for the Elba Softball team in their Opening Day win over Perry last night – which came by the final score of 15-0. Starting pitcher Carli Bogue hurled a no-hitter for the Lady Lancers, the third of her career, while a strong Elba lineup came through time, after time en route to the blowout victory.
“We really smacked it around today – braving the rain and snow,” said Elba head coach Steve Chiocco. “We played as if we didn’t miss a beat from last season.”
Bogue struck out 9 Yellow Jackets’ batters during her no-no, while also helping herself with a 2/3, 4 RBI day at the plate – including a home run.
“We are truly blessed to have Carli,” continued Chiocco. “She’s such a great competitor who knows the game well. I’m glad she’s on our side.”
Emily Reynolds, Madison Howard, and Tatiana Draper all had 2 hits, and scored 2 runs a piece for the Lady Lancers.
With the win, Elba is now 1-0 and looks ahead to a league matchup with Wheatland-Chili on Monday.
