Here are are my first REGULAR SEASON Power Rankings for the 2017-2018 local HS Boys Basketball season. There has been a bit of movement in the middle of my rankings:

1. Batavia

Batavia posted a lopsided win over Eastridge to begin the season, but fell to HF’L last week and looks forward to a daunting matchup with Greece Athena tonight. The Blue Devils could be staring at 2-2.

2. Pembroke

The Dragons sit at 4-0 and atop the GR League after wins over SOTA, Alexander, Attica, and Byron-Bergen to begin the year. They’re looking ahead to a matchup with Oakfield tonight.

3. Cal-Mum

The Raiders hold a 3-0 mark heading into a matchup with rival Le Roy tomorrow night.

4. Le Roy

Le Roy suffered their first loss of the season, at the hands of Avon this past weekend. The Knights hope to get back on track with a win over Cal-Mum. A win in that game will vault LR ahead of C-M in my Power Rankings.

5. Alexander (+1)

Alexander has held each of their opponents under 50 points this season, and has also shown the ability to score at a high pace in a few of their contests. They should be a tough out for any team down the stretch.

6. Notre Dame (+1)

The Irish earned a big, overtime victory over Elba a few weeks ago, and have continued to roll. Look out for Notre Dame as a GR League Title contender for the first time in a few years.

7. Oakfield (-2)

Oakfield’s second half performance vs Alexander was disappointing. They have another difficult matchup, vs Pembroke, coming up this week.

8. Elba

Elba’s one stumbling block has been their difficult loss to Notre Dame. The Lancers play Lyndonville tonight.

9. Attica

The Blue Devils lost a lot to graduation during the offseason, and have suffered the consequences this year.

10. Pavilion

Pavilion is treading water but has yet to earn that signature win which will put them over the top as a formidable team.

11. Byron-Bergen (+1)

Byron-Bergen has just one win this season, and with Holley coming up tonight, the Bees will once again have to earn it if they are to come out of that matchup on top.

12. Holley (+2)

Holley recently picked up their first win in a few years. If the Hawks can defeat Byron-Bergen tonight, they will usurp the Bees in my rankings.

13. Lyndonville

The Tigers are enduring a tough year, and it doesn’t get any easier as they face Elba this week.

14. Wheatland-Chili (-3)

The Wildcats are without a win this season.

Stay tuned as the season goes on for an updated list of my top-teams in the local area.
