Brandon was one of the top 10 players in the GR League this season, and will likely only improve upon that next season. Here is his profile:

Brandon Burke – Byron-Bergen High School – Boys Basketball

6’3″ – 180 lbs – Junior

BBurke- BB 1

Career Highlight #1 – “Alley-oop dunk vs Alexander at home.”
Career Highlight #2 – “Alley-opp dunk vs Holley on the road.”
Career Highlight #3 – “26 point, 15 rebound game vs Wheatland-Chili.”

Favorite thing about High School Sports: “Getting the opportunity to compete against other good athletes and developing some friendly completion with other people I know.”

Most memorable moment in High School Sports career: “Breaking the Byron Bergen High Jump and Triple Jump records and the Byron Bergen / Elba Long Jump Records as a sophomore.”

Plans after High School: “Attend a 4 Year College for an engineering related field and play basketball or compete in Track and Field.”

AB: You have proven to be a fantastic jumper, throwing down several dunks this season. Was that something you were first able to do this season (dunking), or have you been building that skill for sometime?

BB: I have been able to dunk since the spring of my Freshmen year and have been working hard since then to improve my jumping skills to make the dunk part of my overall game.

AB: You’re also a jumper in track if I’m not mistaken. Has that aided your ability to play above the rim during the basketball season?

BB: It has definitely contributed to my ability to play above the rim ,but the off season work in the weight room and in the gym has been much more beneficial.

AB: Your team has plenty of talent coming back next season. What do you expect to accomplish as a group?

BB: Next season our team expects to have a solid 5 returning players and a couple of upcoming JV players that will be able to contribute in every aspect of the game. I expect for us to be a top team in the Genesee Region and go deep into sectionals which is something Byron Bergen has not done in many years.

AB: Do you believe you took steps to accomplishing those goals this season? In other words, did you take steps towards becoming a better team this season?

BB: Yes. Our Team has been working very hard in the weight room and in the gym and we plan to continue to work hard in the off season in Spring and Summer Leagues and various camps such as Brasky camp.

AB: Finally, if you could pick out one thing that will help your team get over the hump next season, what would it be?

BB: Continue to develop additional defensive and offensive threats. This will allow us to be a less predictable and tougher team to scout and prepare for. Ideally we will be able to put 5 strong players on the court at any time that can all consistently contribute on both ends of the court.

Next season, led by Burke, I expect the Bees to compete for their Divisional Title.
