Tonight at 7:00 pm at Batavia High School, my brother and father will reunite on the basketball court for the first time since 2007. I wouldn’t necessarily call it the ‘matchup everyone wanted to see’ – but hey – we’re giving it to you anyway.

For years these two annoyed everyone in our neighborhood with their countless hours of ball handling drills, shooting practice, and agility training in the driveway, basement, and backyard at all hours of the morning/night, and it’s crazy to think tonight they will be facing off against one another from opposing benches.

Adam, assistant coach at CSAT out of Buffalo, brings the Eagles to town for a non-league matchup with my father’s Blue Devils in what is sure to be the most overhyped (by those two) matchup in the history of basketball. This past weekend at the Bills game for example, these two were discussing the game during the midpoint of the third quarter. To put it plainly, they have been looking forward to it for quite some time.

I have to admit, though, I have too.

In all seriousness, while it would be great seeing my brother take down my dad in one of his first seasons as an assistant coach of a varsity basketball team, I simply can’t see the undermanned Eagles pulling off the upset of the Blue Devils tonight. Batavia is too skilled, and too experienced and I believe they will stay the course and win their third-straight game tonight.

However, if CSAT is to win tonight – you best believe my father will never hear the end of it.

Go Eagles.
