The offense. The defense. The special teams.

It was all working for the Buffalo Bills when they went up the Minnesota Vikings yesterday, and boy was it fun to watch.

Josh Allen was incredible. Finishing with 196 passing yards and 3 total touchdowns, the Bills rookie QB looked like Joe Montana in his prime and has taken this team from the league’s laughing stock to one of its most-celebrated in a week’s time.

And let’s not forget about the defense. Almost pitching a shutout on Sunday, they performed as they did in the second half against the Chargers and are starting to look like the top-10 unit that many believed they would be prior to the season. Sean McDermott gave play-calling duties back to Leslie Frazier after taking them from his DC in the previous week, and it proved to be the right decision against what had been a potent Vikings’ offense.

The leader of the defense through three games has undoubtedly been second-year DB Tre’Davious White, who shut down Minnesota’s top-receiver Stephon Diggs which made it tough for QB Kirk Cousins to get comfortable. In addition to White’s effort on Sunday, DE Jerry Hughes also came to play and was all over the QB for four quarters.

If this team can play like it did yesterday they can beat any team in the league. Whether or not they can remain consistent from week to week remains the question.

Sean McDermott was proud of his team on Sunday, but how proud of them will he be if they come out and lay an egg in Green Bay this week? In order to silence the doubters for another week the Bills need to head to Lambeau Field and compete with the Packers for four quarters. Asking for a win might be too much, but if Buffalo goes in and gets blown out on Sunday I will be disappointed.

Competing every week should be the goal for this team. If they do that they’ll finish the season respectably, and remain in the postseason conversation into December.

And what more can you ask for than that from a team with a rookie QB, and little talent elsewhere on the roster?

I’m looking forward to finding out what awaits this team next week.
