Last night at Byron-Bergen High School, the B-B Girls Basketball team defeated non-conference opponent Le Roy by a final score of 58-34. Although the game was tied 21-21 at the half, the Lady Bees used a big second half in order to push past the Knights.
“We had too many turnovers in the first half and cut way down in the second,” commented Bees head coach Rick Krzewinski following the game. “We had a really nice third, and fourth quarter.”
Le Roy was coming off of an emotional win over league rival Cal-Mum last week, and will now be forced to go back to the drawing board after what is certain to be a disappointing loss. For the Knights, only Lydia Borrelli scored in double-figures with 12 points.
For Byron-Bergen, Kelsey Fuller led the way with 16 points, while Miriam Tardy added 14, and Juliana Amesbury 12 of her own.
Next up for both teams will be matchups with Greece Odyssey, as I believe the Bees were unable to find a fourth team for their annual holiday tournament this season. Leaving a three-team round robin consisting of the Bees, Knights, and Leopards.
LR will face GO on Thursday, while B-B awaits them on Friday.
