There is one word to describe the Cal-Mum Softball program throughout the past seven seasons.
That word is DYNASTY.
With an 11-5 win over Campbell-Savona this afternoon in the Section V Class C2 Title game, the Red Raiders won their fifth title in the past seven years, and their tenth overall in program history.
Despite trailing 2-1 after the first inning, on account of a few errors by the Raiders’ defense, Cal-Mum was dominant throughout the remainder of the contest and walked away with the six-run win. Leading the Raiders’ offense was a list of hitters, but none were more-effective than slugger Andrea Coyle.
Coyle finished the day 5/5 with 2 doubles, and 5 RBI, which was good enough to solidify her position as the tournament MVP. Also chipping in a big day with the bat for C-M was catcher Meghan Mietlicki, who recorded a 2/5, 2 RBI performance.
Hannah Rubinrott picked up the win inside the circle for the Raiders, allowing only eight hits, and three earned runs.
Both Mietlicki, and Rubinrott were each selected for the All-Tournament team.
With the win, Cal-Mum moves to the Section V Class C Playoff game, where they will meet longtime rival Le Roy. The Raiders defeated the Knights twice during the regular year.
