PENN YAN – It was another dominant performance for the Cal-Mum/Byron-Bergen Football team last night in Penn Yan, as the Red Raiders rolled over the Mustangs by a final score of 27-18 – and will move on to face rival Le Roy in the Class C Semifinals next week.

Ian Lenhardt put forth a strong performance for the Cal-Mum/Byron-Bergen defense last night.

CMBB was sparked throughout the contest by the dynamic duo in their backfield, as Bobby Stevens and Bryce Yockel continued to play the roles of thunder and lightning for the Red Raider offense. Both finishing with over 100 yards on the ground, Stevens and Yockel ran wild all over the Mustang defense from the opening, to the closing bell – and carried their team to the next level of the postseason.

In addition to the work of Cal-Mum/Byron-Bergen’s stable of backs, their defensive unit was equally impressive. Limiting the Mustangs to just 6 points through three quarters, the Raiders’ resistance on Saturday night was as strong as it’s been all season long.

As I mentioned before, CMBB will now advance to face longtime rival Le Roy in the Class C Semifinals, which is a rematch of the two teams’ earlier season matchup – which was won in comeback fashion by the Knights. Despite dominating the first three quarters of that game, the Red Raiders gave way to LR and choked away a win.

This time around, however, Cal-Mum/Byron-Bergen will be out for revenge.

Stay tuned all week long for continued coverage of the Section V HS Football Playoffs.
