It wasn’t easy, but they did it.

The Le Roy Baseball team found themselves in a barn-burner on Saturday night at Livonia High School, as the Knights’ struggle with Geneseo in the Section V Class C1 Championship game led both teams to the eighth inning – when eight-seeded LR simply outlasted the three-seeded Blue Devils, and won the Title by a final score of 4-3.

Coming through with the clutch hit in the eighth inning of a 3-3 game was Knights’ sophomore Reece Tresco – who bombed a RBI double to right center and gave his team the 4-3 advantage. Both sophomore Tim McMullen, and senior Josh Laurie each contributed for Le Roy on the mound in the win, as McMullen started, and Laurie closed things out.

The win marks LR’s first Section V Baseball Title since the mid-2000s, and the first for head coach Ieon Koukides.

Next up for Le Roy will be Avon tonight in the Section V Class C crossover game. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm at Dwyer Stadium.
