Dustin truly proved himself as one of the top wrestlers in the area this season. Here is his profile:
Dustin Joy – Lyndonville High School – Wrestling
Career Highlight #1 – Winning individual sectionals.
Career Highlight #2 – Winning Sectionals as a team.
Career Highlight #3 – Finishing 1st at the LewPort Tournament.
Favorite thing about High School Sports: “The competitiveness between the teams.”
Most memorable moment in High School Sports career: “The bus rides to tournaments (during which we) have rap battles.”
Plans after High School: “Going to Morrisville State College for Agriculture.”
AB: What do you feel is the best part about being a wrestler?
DJ: The best part is the feeling that you get before the match and you have a feeling you are going to win.
AB: Is it more gratifying when you win in wrestling than other sports?
DJ: The fact that you know you did it yourself and you don’t have to depend on other players scoring points with you. You do it by yourself and work hard to get to that point.
AB: What is the toughest part about being a wrestler?
DJ: Toughest part about being a wrestler is you have to have the will to win and if you don’t think positive you don’t wrestle positive.
AB: What helps you get through the tough times on the mat?
DJ: What helps me get through is looking back on how hard I worked to get to this point and there is a lot more hard work to come.
AB: Finally, what has wrestling taught you off the mat? In other words, how has the sport helped you in life in general?
DJ: It has helped me be a better person, work hard to (achieve my) goals, and respect the people who helped you reach your goal.
