Elba is coming off of a Championship season in 2016-2017, and hopes to make it two-in-a-row this year. However, with several moving pieces on their roster due to what they lost to graduation, this Lancers team will be forced to learn as they go and come together on the fly in hopes of forging a strong postseason run. Here is a brief preview of their 2017-2018 season:

Elba Lancers

Head Coach: Ciaci Zambito

Record Last Season: 19-5

Key Players

Jon Boyce (Junior) – Jon really impressed during his first varsity season last year, and is in line for a break-out campaign as the team’s leading forward in ’17-’18.

Collin O’Halloran (Sophomore) – Collin served as the team’s point guard last season as a freshman, and gained valuable knowledge throughout the Lancers’ Championship run. This year, it will be upon him to lead the offense even more-so than last year.

Coach’s Outlook

“This is a group that is much like the teams I’ve coached in the past, in the way they are willing to work hard and compete every single day. We have a bunch of talent on our roster this year, and we’ll strive to get better every day.

I’m really looking forward to coaching this group. I understand the talk about how we have a young team, but we will not use that as an excuse to underperform. “

– Elba HC Ciaci Zambito

Although the Lancers lost a bunch to graduation, I still believe this team can compete inside, and perhaps even outside the GR League this season. Stay tuned for continued coverage of GR League Basketball.
