Here is a brief preview of the 2017 Elba Softball team:

Elba Lancers (GR)

elba-logoSeason Outlook: The Lady Lancers finished 19-3 last season and return a strong core of experienced athletes. Although they fell early-on during the 2016 postseason, I expect Elba will make a stronger run towards a Sectional Title in 2017.

Key Players: Carli Bogue (P) – Earned 17 wins inside the circle last season, including 2 no-hitters. She also struck out over 150 batters and recorded a 2.40 ERA. Offensively, Carli batted over .500 and was one of the Lancers’ top-run producers in 2016; Tatiana Draper, Hailey Stevens, Emily Reynolds (OF) – All three batted over .300 for Elba last season and will provide increased athleticism in the outfield this year; Tarra Shuknecht, Meaghan Kogut, Madison Howard, Lauryn Engle (INF) – Seniors Kogut and Shuknecht, and underclasswomen Howard and Engle are expected the lead a strong infield group.

Coach’s Quote: “We are definitely going to try and be competitive within our league this season,” said Lancers’ head coach Steve Chiocco. “Our goals are pretty simple: Get better every day, win our League, win our Section. Everything beyond that is a bonus.”
