Genesee enters the season with just two seniors on their roster, and plenty of inexperienced underclassmen. Also, they will be forced to endure life without many of their top-scorers from a season ago, which will likely make for a transitional campaign for the Ice Devils. Here is a brief preview of their upcoming 2017-2018 slate:

Genesee Ice Devils

Head Coach: John Kirkwood

Record Last Season: 4-17

Key Skaters

Evan Dusky (Junior) – Evan will serve as one of the top-point producers for the Devils this season, as a relentless work ethic and coachable attitude has his coach excited for what is to come.

Derek Fedus (Sophomore) – Derek is one of the team’s captains as an underclassman, which speaks to his ability to lead and work hard every day. The future is bright for this one.

In Net

JT Turnbull (Senior) – JT returns from a knee injury which forced him from the ice last season. This year, he is looking to maximize his final season in between the pipes for the Ice Devils.

Alex Hunt (Sophomore) – Endured a full season in net due to his counterpart’s injury in ’16-’17. This year, he will likely share time and continue to develop.

Coach’s Outlook

“Success will be measured by us meeting our expectations on a daily basis. I believe we have an outstanding nucleus of talent. When you have an opportunity to transition a program with so much youth, you make certain that the expectations laid out are achieved.

The expectation around the Genesee Ice Devils is that this is a new day, and a new era for this team. We are excited to grow together as a family and enjoy playing the great game of hockey as well as we are capable of.”

– Genesee HC John Kirkwood

All in all I expect it will be another tough year for Genesee, filled with growing pains – as they progress towards a more-favorable future. Continue to tune in all season long for continued coverage of the Ice Devils’ journey towards success.
