After the first month of the season, here is who I believe are the top teams in the league:

———

#1 – Oakfield

Aside from their loss in the Le Roy tournament, the Hornets have proven themselves time and time again as the top-team in the league. They run 2-3 deep on their pitching staff, and about 8-9 deep in their batting order – providing a difficult challenge for any team on their schedule. Tonight they play Notre Dame, followed by a few games in the Rotary Tournament to conclude the week. If they continue to play well, they will remain atop the Power Rankings. However, if they are to falter at any point during their tough slate this week, they could find themselves looking up at #1.

#2 – Notre Dame

Notre Dame’s strength has been their pitching thus far, with several shutout victories to date. Despite this fact, if their offense doesn’t continue to improve as the season goes, they could have trouble with the big-hitting teams on their schedule down the stretch. Look for this group to be tested tonight in their game vs Oakfield.

#3 – Lyndonville

Pushing Oakfield to the brink earlier this season, if the Tigers are able to clean up their play on defense, and continue to progress as a team at the plate, they should have the opportunity to challenge for the League Title at season’s end.

#4 – Holley

Holley is the lone team to defeat Oakfield this season, and has one of the best pitchers in the league in Dylan Hillabush. However, they lost quite a bit from a season ago which I believe may show up during the stretch run of the regular season. If they are to overcome the dog days of mid-to-late May, though, they could find themselves rapidly rising in my rankings.

#5 – Alexander

Alexander has proven to be one of the strongest offensive teams in the league, but their pitching depth has been questionable at times throughout 2016.

#6 – Attica

Attica has disappointed thus far, struggling offensively.

#7 – Pembroke

The Dragons are improved from a season ago, but don’t seem to have the depth needed to compete on a daily basis.

#8 – Byron-Bergen

The Bees have had their bright spots this year, but are on the outside looking in at this point.
