Here is my first edition of Power Rankings for the 2017-2018 local HS Girls Basketball season.

1. Oakfield

The Hornets are undefeated, but have a big matchup with Notre Dame coming up – which could change their standing in my Power Rankings, and within the League.

2. Notre Dame

The Irish lost to Elba earlier this season, but since then have played perfect basketball within the League, and sit with a total of two losses this season.

3. Wheatland-Chili

Wheatland-Chili defeated Elba this year, but fell to Notre Dame, which leaves them right in the middle of those two teams in terms of my Power Rankings. The Wildcats will be a contender in Class D1 this year.

4. Elba

The Lancers have ripped off five-straight wins since their loss to Wheatland-Chili earlier this year. Elba is out to defend its Title in Class D2.

5. Cal-Mum

The Red Raiders have been doing it with smoke and mirrors this season, but following a win over Batavia this past weekend, Cal-Mum finds itself in the thick of things within Class C2

6. Batavia

Batavia has had an up and down season, but recently they are trending downward. The Blue Devils must right the ship in time for Sectional play.

7. Attica

Attica has performed admirably under a first-year head coach, and has lost just three games to date – against quality opponents Letchworth, Notre Dame, and Oakfield. The Blue Devils will be a tough out for any team down the stretch.

8. Pembroke

Pembroke recorded a big win over Byron-Bergen earlier this year, but have yet to post another signature win.

9. Byron-Bergen

The Bees have been playing good basketball as of late, with recent wins over Le Roy and Greece Odyssey.

10. Le Roy

The Knights picked up an important win over Cal-Mum earlier this year, but have since suffered three-straight losses to some tough competition. Le Roy hopes to get it together this week, but faces a few more tough games in the coming days.

11. Pavilion

Pavilion is a middling team who has earned a few nice wins, but suffered tough losses as well. Look for the Gophers to be in the middle of the pack come postseason time.

12. Lyndonville

The Tigers have taken care of business against the weaker teams in the League, but have yet to earn a big win.

13. Alexander

The Trojans have only one win to date, and are going through a transitional season.

14. Holley

Holley is winless this season.

Stay tuned as the season goes on for an updated list of my top-teams in the local area.
