Here is my third edition of Power Rankings for the 2017-2018 local HS Girls Basketball season.

1. Wheatland-Chili

Wheatland-Chili is currently riding an 11-game winning streak and has one game remaining on their schedule – Thursday vs #2 team Elba.  The Wildcats’ two losses this season have come to #4 team Notre Dame, and #5 team Cal-Mum.

2. Elba

Before their loss to York recently, Elba had ripped off 11-straight wins. The Lancers have three more games to end the season, with the final two coming against #1 team Wheatland-Chili, which is the only other team to beat Elba, and #4 team Notre Dame.

3. Oakfield

Despite a two-game skid earlier in the season, where Oakfield suffered losses to #2 Elba, and #1 Wheatland-Chili, the Hornets have already won 14 games this season and could be on their way to a deep postseason run. The Hornets finish the season with Alexander, Holley, Kendall, and Bergen.

4. Notre Dame

The Irish did beat #1 Wheatland-Chili earlier in the year, but have lost to #2 Elba, #3 Oakfield, and #10 Byron-Bergen, among a few other losses. The Irish will have one last chance to move up in the rankings when they play Elba to end the year.

5. Cal-Mum

The Red Raiders have been up-and-down all year throughout what has been a difficult schedule. Of Cal-Mum’s seven losses four have come to state-ranked teams, while their biggest win came over #6 Batavia in the Rotary Tournament.

6. Batavia

Batavia lost to #5 Cal-Mum earlier this season, but is currently riding a three-game winning streak. They finish up with Aquinas and Greece Odyssey.

7. Attica

Following a five-game skid, the Blue Devils have won three of their last five with five more winnable games left on the schedule. Matchups with #11 Alexander, #14 Holley, Akron, #10 Byron-Bergen, and #8 Pembroke remain for Attica.

8. Pembroke

Pembroke has lost three games in a row, but have three-straight winnable games to conclude the regular season. #10 Byron-Bergen, #11 Alexander, and #7 Attica will be the last three regular season matchups for the Dragons.

9. Le Roy (+1)

Le Roy has lost two-straight games, including one to #5 Cal-Mum. The Knights have three more tough matchups to end the year as Cuba-Rushford, Warsaw, and Letchworth remain on the schedule for LR.

10. Byron-Bergen (-1)

Byron-Bergen recently defeated #4 Notre Dame, but followed that up with losses to #7 Attica, and #1 Wheatland-Chili. To make matters worse, the Bees were recently hit with the injury/flu bug.

11. Alexander (+1)

It took 14 games, but Alexander finally seems to have hit their stride as we approach the postseason. Following a 2-11 start, the Trojans are 2-1 over their last three games, and have two more winnable games on their schedule – as they play #8 Pembroke, and #14 Holley after a matchup with #3 Oakfield.

12. Pavilion (-1)

Pavilion has lost three-straight, one of which coming at the hands of #11 Alexander. The Gophers finish the year with Bath, Geneseo, and York. All tough games.

13. Lyndonville

Lyndonville has lost seven games in a row.

14. Holley

Holley is winless this season.
