The Batavia Boys Basketball team fell to Greece Odyssey last night by a final score of 46-43. Despite being ahead by about 10 during the third quarter, the Devils allowed the Leopards to work their way back into contention down the stretch – and eventually allowed them to come all the way back to take a late lead. Batavia had a chance to tie with little time left, but a Jake Schrider missed free throw at the front end of a 1-and-1 effectively ended the game.

Leading Odyssey was DJ Billings with 11 points, but just behind him were Aaron Wilkins, and Dewaun Bryan who eachIMG_9294 finished with 8 points in the Leopards victory. Odyssey has a bunch of quality young talent, and despite being down for years, they seem to have what it takes to be good for the foreseeable future.

Batavia senior Malachi Chenault led all scorers on Wednesday, as he recorded 14 points in addition to 17 rebounds, while fellow big man Jake Schrider chipped in 14 points of his own. Despite each Batavia big man shooting about 50% from the field on Wednesday, they began the game unable to hit on a few chippy’s inside – which disallowed the Devils from taking a huge first-quarter lead.

TeeSean Ayala added 11 points while Trevor Sherwood recorded 10 rebounds for Batavia in defeat.
