Following a Sectional Championship in 2015, it was tough to know what exactly to expect from the Holley Baseball team this year. They lost their best player Joe DeFelice, along with several other key pieces, and heading into 2016 they had plenty to prove with new faces taking on new roles. But despite the question marks that surrounded this team prior to the season, not only did the Hawks finish on top of GR Division 1, but after a 4-3 win over Le Roy last night they are now headed to the Class B2 semifinals.

Propelling his team to victory vs a gritty Knights squad was Hawks ace Dylan Hillabush, who hurled a complete game – striking out 6. Hillabush has been one of the top-pitchers in the GR throughout the entire season, and if Holley is able to win in the semis for a second-straight year and reach the title game, he will likely have a chance to prove himself as a top-talent once again.

The game-winning run for Holley came in the 6th inning, when a Nick Passarell double scored Colin Papaj to make the score 4-3.

Holley will play in the B2 semis next week.
