Here is a brief preview of the 2018 Holley Track and Field team:

Holley Hawks (GR)

Season Outlook: After two-straight winless seasons, the Holley Girls finished 5-4 last season, and hope to improve upon that mark in 2018. The Hawks are excited by the amount of athletes that they have returning, and the leadership which they expect those veterans to disperse.

The Boys team is in a transitional year, as they return very few athletes which scored points last season. They will need a long list of newcomers to fill the roles left behind by last year’s graduating class.

Key Players: Angie Weaver – Angie was one of the top-shot putters in the league last season. Big things are expected of her this year in both the shot and the discus.; Lindsey Allen, Olivia Radford, Kayleigh Neale – All are quality distance runners for the Hawks.; Hanna Waterman – Hanna leads a large group of Holley high jumpers.; Abrianna KrugerAbrianna is a versatile athlete who jumps, competes in the hurdles, and also takes part in the pole vault.; Nina Dilella, Julia Smith – Each return to the team this season hoping to help their efforts in the relays.Matt DeSimone – Matt is fifth year varsity athlete, a team leader, and one of the Hawks best overall athletes. He will compete in the 400 M Run, the Long Jump (holds school record), and the relays.Jacob DowneyJacob is a solid mid-distance runner for the Hawks.Matt Hahn – Matt will aid the Hawks’ efforts in the throwing department.

Coach’s Quote: “Team spirit is high and the work ethic is outstanding,” said Holley head coach Art Goldstein about the Girls team. “What’s impressive is the team works hard while knowing how to relax and have fun.”

“(These guys) understand that effort put forth in March will pay off in April and May,” said Holley head coach Art Goldstein. “Veteran leadership, competitive efforts by our youngsters and team spirit will help to make this year a success.”
