Jack Eichel returned tonight, leading the Sabres to a much-needed 5-4 victory over the Ottawa Senators, during which the Buffalo superstar scored his first goal of the season.

For a team which seemed unable to score more than 2 goals in a game throughout the early portions of this season, having perhaps their top-offensive players return to the ice last night was more than a breath of fresh air. For the Sabres, Jack Eichel signifies hope. Hope that this team can turn it around and make a run at the postseason. As it stands today, Buffalo sits a massive 7 points out of a playoff spot, but with their complete roster beginning to take shape, perhaps they can make a push and make themselves competitive down the stretch of the season.

Moving forward, based on what we saw tonight, this team has the ability to be special. Can they make the uphill climb and place themselves in position for the Wild Card by the end of the year?

Only time will tell.
