John has proved himself to be quite the athlete in various sports throughout his time at Elba High School. As the quarterback of the football team, as well as one of the key pieces on the boys basketball team, the big man has left quite the legacy as a Lancer.

AB: Over the course of this season you have truly been an anchor in the middle defensively. specifically blocking shots. What has allowed you to become such a successful shot blocker?

JH: My dad taught me to be patient and not to jump until the shooter jumps.

AB: What do you think your ability to block shots has done for your team this season?

JH: My ability to block shots has just made my defense a little better. We take pride in our defense and that’s just another way to help out.

AB: In addition to blocking shots, your ability to score the ball is equally impressive. What’s helped you become such a good two way player?

JH: Just working hard has helped me to develop both sides of my game and all of my coaches and my dad have taught me everything I know.

AB: Finally, which side of the ball do you see as the most important to winning? Or are they equal?

JH: Defense is the most important part to our team. We pride ourselves in our defense and work the hardest to achieve perfection on that side of the ball.
