Madison was forced to watch her team from the sidelines during her sectional title run, but was a big part of it nonetheless. Here is her profile:

Madison McCulley – Batavia High School – Girls Basketball

5’5″ – Senior

Career Highlight #1 – “Scoring 1,000 points.”
Career Highlight #2 – “Winning sectionals.”
Career Highlight #3 – “Making the Section V Top-10 for most-three pointers made.”

Favorite thing about High School Sports: “Playing with my friends for 5 years. We’ve created great chemistry and it’s going to be hard to play without Sam and Tiara.”

Most memorable moment in High School Sports career: “Scoring my 1,000th career point at Sutherland.”

Plans after High School: “Attend Geneseo to major in accounting and play basketball.”

AB: Understanding the season ended a bit early for you, how did you keep yourself into it, and excited about a potential, and eventual, sectional championship?

MM: Of course at first it was hard to stay into it, but as one of the captains, it was my job to be there for my team and motivate them. MY team deserved to win and the chance of winning sectionals kept my heart in it.

AB: What was it like celebrating that win with your teammates?

MM: It was an indescribable feeling. Although it hurt that I couldn’t be on the court, it was amazing to finally hold the block and have a patch of my own.

AB: After coming so close in previous years, did that make it that much sweeter to finally win it?

MM: It definitely made it sweeter. It’s my senior year so it was my last chance to win. Losing in the years before made the win feel that much greater.

AB: Going forward, do you feel your younger teammates can continue to carry on the tradition you and the fellow seniors have built?

MM: Of course they can carry on the tradition. Being young is definitely tough – I know because I was always in that position. It might not be as easy for them now without the seniors, but they have enough talent to get through challenges.

AB: Finally, what do you hope to get out of the game going forward?

MM: I hope to recover fully and get back in the gym to prepare and play at the next level.
