Marcus will return to Cal-Mum next season and will continue on as one of their top players as he was this season.

Here is his profile:

Marcus Middleton – Cal-Mum High School – Boys Basketball

6’0″ – 165 lbs – Junior

Favorite thing about High School Sports: “Being able to play with my friends in front of my family and community.”

Most memorable moment in High School Sports career: “Took my third charge of the game against Letchworth with 10 seconds left to win by 1.”

Plans after High School: “Attend college to earn a degree in bio-mechanical engineering.”

AB: With the season now over, what do you think about your team’s outlook for next season? Is the future bright?

MM: I think next year we will be one of the best teams in our class. We were a competitive team this year with one senior, although he was an important part, but we have learned to play through being without him (due to injury). Next year we will have 8 returning players who know what it takes to win at the varsity level.

AB: How do you feel going through difficult times this season has affected the team? Has it brought you together?

MM: Going through this season was frustrating at times, especially having so many close games. But that has definitely brought us together to make us work harder. None of us have wanted to give up, we have just wanted to win that much more.

AB: What helped you guys continue to work hard this season despite losing some close games along the way?

MM: Although we lost a lot of close games, we have always worked our hardest because we wanted to show that losing our seniors didn’t make a difference. Coach Dickens taught us that being a young team was not an excuse. So throughout the season we worked to show people we could compete as a young team.

AB: Speaking of your effort, that was perhaps your most impressive trait as a team this season. How important is that aspect of the game (effort)?

MM: For us this year, effort was everything. With only two returning players who didn’t get much time last year, we didn’t have a lot of skill. To make up for that we made a lot of effort plays which kept us in so many games.

AB: Finally, what are you looking forward to most about next season?

MM: I think next season is going to be a big year for us with so many players coming back. I am looking forward to beating some of the teams that we had close games with. Hopefully we can grow enough between now and then to get back to Blue Cross.

Marcus is one heck of an athlete, and it showed with each passing game this season. Look out for C-M next season.
