When we last checked-in on the Muckdogs they were sliding their way out of playoff contention, and since then their skid has continued. Despite sweeping Williamsport in a three-game set last week, the ‘Dogs went on to lose five of their next six which puts them five games back in the Wild Card race and nine games behind the Pinckney Division leader.

As bad as things have been for Batavia on the field this season, they’ve been just as bad off the field, with the team continuing to struggle attendance-wise as they have throughout the past several years. The Muckdogs have drawn an average of just 793 fans per game throughout the 2018 season, which is about 130 fans less than the team was drawing at this point last year.

New ‘Dogs General Manager Dave Chase stated in the offseason one of his primary objectives upon taking over the team was “to re-establish the team in the mind of the fans.”

It seems as if he has yet to accomplish that goal thus far.
