Despite graduating a few key skaters from last season, Notre Dame added 9 new athletes to their roster this year – including Genesee Ice Devils leading scorer from ’16-’17 Cameron Ells. It should be another exciting, successful campaign for the Irish. Here is a brief preview of their upcoming slate:

Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Head Coach: Marc Staley

Record Last Season: 16-7

Key Skaters

Cameron Ells (Senior) – Cam was the leading-scorer for the crosstown-rival Genesee Ice Devils last season, and has made the jump to ND – likely hoping to pick up a Sectional Title before he graduates.

Ethan Hutchins (Senior) – Ethan has served as a role player for the Irish the past several seasons, but in 2017-2018, it’s his turn to break out and lead the team as one of their captains.

Grant Hens (Senior) – Grant has been developing throughout the past few years, and his coach believes he can perform up to the standard as one of the top-defenseman in Section V this year.

In Net

Ethan Conrad (Senior) – Ethan has been between the pipes for Notre Dame the past several seasons, and is heading into his sixth, and final year as a member of the team. His presence gives his team the opportunity to win every night, and should allow them to compete with the tougher teams on their schedule this year.

Coach’s Outlook

“Overall, I think this team will be different than last year’s team. Our defensive style is going to be a little different this year, and we are also working on a few new things in our transition game.

The development of the younger players is going to allow us to run a deeper bench this year and I think we will play a faster paced game because of it.  This is the style I really enjoy coaching, so personally, I am excited.

If we keep the grades up, stay healthy, and play disciplined hockey, I think we should be very competitive this season. “

– Notre Dame HC Marc Staley
