Here is a brief preview of the 2018 Notre Dame Track and Field team:

Notre Dame Fighting Irish (GR)

Season Outlook: The Notre Dame Girls won the GR League Division II Title last season, but are moving forward with a much lighter roster this year. The ‘Achilles Heel’ for the Irish will be what they will lack in depth points during key meets.

Like the Girls, the Boys team is also struggling with numbers this year after a 4-5 finish a year ago. The Irish will find it difficult to represent themselves in each event this season.

Key Players: Margaret Sutherland – Margaret is a returning GR League All-Star who will be in the mix with the best the GR League has to offer in terms of mid-distance, long jump, and high jump.Carly OllesAnother returning GR League All-Star for the Irish. She hopes to amongst the best distance runners in the GR League.; Jacob Gualtieri – Jacob is a team leader and will be a staple of the team’s distance crew.; Tyler FullerTyler is another key distance dunner for the Irish, and is the team’s top-pole vaulter as well.; David DoanDavid will be running mid-distance, and will be looking to breakout this season.

Coach’s Quote: “(We) have quality athletes to be very competitive in the smaller meets,” said Notre Dame head coach Eric Geitner about the Girls team. “There is a lot of uncertainty of where (the Boys) team is currently, or where it could go, but there is a lot of potential.”
