Here is a brief preview of the 2018 Pembroke Track and Field team:

Pembroke Dragons (GR)

Season Outlook: The Pembroke Girls have put together three-straight undefeated seasons, and are looking to make it four in a row this spring. With talent up and down the roster, from longest race to shortest, the Lady Dragons believe they are just as good as last season – or perhaps better.

The Boys saw a couple of Section V Champions graduate during the offseason, after a year which they went 6-3. The Dragons should put further a respectable effort once again this season, but will find it difficult to fill the roles left behind by last year’s upperclassmen.

Key Players: Sophia Zwolinski – Sophia is the defending Section V Division II 100 M Hurdle Champion, and is also a top-competitor in the 400 M Hurdles. She has been undefeated in both events over the past two seasons in the GR League.; Serene Calderon – Serene is another strong competitor in the 100 M and 400 M Hurdles, and is also a player for the GR League Pole Vault Title in 2018.Grace Krizen, Sam Ianni, Emily Peters – These three make up the Lady Dragons’ distance crew.; Bethany Zwolinski, Morgan Farrington, Montana DieterAll three are back to defend their Section V Class CC 400 M Relay Championship. Lucas KohorstLucas is the defending Class CC 400 M Run Champion, and will also be a title contender in the 800 M Run this season.; Dan SonnenfeldDan is looking to help his team in the distance events this season.

Coach’s Quote: “From top to bottom we are just as good as last season and I cannot wait to see the results that this team produces,” said Pembroke head coach Mike Puckett about the Girls team. “(The boys team) has some big shoes to fill with the graduation of (some upperclassmen).”
