In a 2-1 start to the season, Casey Radka has been the driving force behind both of the Batavia Baseball team’s victories on the mound and at the plate. Earlier today, he was at it again recording a 2/5, 2 RBI day at the plate and 6 innings of 3-hit, shutout ball on the mound in the Blue Devils 9-0 road win over a young Medina team.

“Casey threw the ball very well today,” said Batavia head coach Rick Saunders following the win. “He got ahead in the count and got a lot of ground balls, and we played way better defensively than we did on Friday. Offensively we put together some quality at bats, and just performed way better than we did on Friday.”

Batavia benefitted from a 6-run third inning this afternoon, during which Jerry Reinhart, Hunter Mazur, Griffin Della Penna, and Sam Sallome all recorded RBI base hits.

Reinhart highlighted the big inning with a triple which was part of a 2/5, 2 RBI day. Radka and Reinhart are the one-two punch offensively for this Batavia team, and they must continue to contribute if the Devils are to have a chance to compete for a league and sectional title. Michael Calderon and Hunter Mazur also collected 2 hits a piece for Batavia in the win.

With the win, Batavia is now 2-1 and looks ahead to three more games this week.
