This weekend the Batavia Indoor Track team will be sending two athletes to compete at the New York State Indoor Track Championships at Cornell University.  This will be the 23rd straight year that Batavia Indoor Track has had an athlete qualify for the State Championships.

Anthony Ray, a sophomore, continued his dominant season in the Shot Put for Batavia last week with a 50′ 1″ qualifying throw in the state qualifier meet.  As the current school record holder in this event, Anthony will look to earn a medal with his throws on Saturday.

Kiaya Franklin, also a sophomore, will compete in the 200m at the NYSPHSAA Championships.  Kiaya will be making her second trip to Track States as she competed last spring at the Outdoor State Championships.  Her race will be a part of an intersectional relay that goes into the meet seeded 6th overall, and she’ll have a strong opportunity to bring home a State medal this weekend.

Congratulations to both on a fine season, and most of all – good luck.
