We are one week closer to the Section V Football Postseason, as teams are gearing up for Week 6.

The Playoffs will look a bit different this season, as the Section V Football Committee has opted to change their seeding system moving forward.

In the meantime here is a brief preview of where we stand right now in terms of the overall Class Standings (as of 10/04/2018), and where we’re going in terms of who I believe will compete for a Title.

BataviaLivoniaWayne, and Honeoye Falls-Lima all won in Week 5, while University Prep fell to Class A opponent East High. Batavia sits atop the pack as a massive favorite in the minds of many, but the top-four teams who trail the Blue Devils have all proven themselves to be capable throughout the first five weeks.

East Rochester/GanandaLetchworth/Warsaw, and Penn Yan each began to gain a bit of separation with big wins in Week 5, while Attica, and Mynderse each suffered a setback. I’m beginning to think it will be one of the current top-three seeds that will walk away with the Class C title, but I can’t count Attica out just yet.

Alexander is a runaway favorite in Class D, and the only teams which I believe even stand a chance against the mighty Trojans are Perry/Mt. Morris, and Red Jacket. Following a disappointing loss to Pembroke last week Notre Dame all but eliminated themselves as a contender, at least in my mind.
