Survive and advance? More like conquer and dominate.
Last night at Canandaigua High School, the Wheatland-Chili Girls Basketball team kept their unbelievable season rolling with a huge 43-40 win over previously unbeaten Prattsburgh. The Wildcats will now move on to face Panama on Saturday at 5:00 pm at Rush-Henrietta in the Far West Regional.
A back-and-forth affair throughout the contest, Wheatland and Prattsburgh found themselves tied with under a minute to play in regulation. That was when 8th grader Lindsey Clar came through.
With just about :10 to go in the game Clar drained a layup in order to put her team ahead of
Prattsburgh, following which, the Vikings went down to the other end and missed their attempt at a tie. W-C’s Callaghan was then fouled on the rebound and made 1/2 free throws – securing the Wildcats’ three point win.
What an incredible season it has been for Wheatland-Chili. After nearly running the table within the GR League, and winning a few close games on their way to a Sectional Title, they have now put themselves in position to advance to the State Final Four.
Stay tuned as we will be with the Wildcats until the very end of their journey – which could end with another title.
