There is one local team within our coverage area which remains in the hunt for a Section V Girls Soccer Championship, as two-time defending NYSPHSAA champ Wheatland-Chili won their semifinal game last night and has moved on to the finals, where they will face York this Friday at 7:30 pm @ Cal-Mum HS.
The #1 Wildcats dispatched #4 Keshequa on Tuesday night, with Niyah Rosado scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over the Indians. Goalkeeper Janae Hooker also put forth a strong performance in her team’s victory, shutting out Keshequa while making 6 saves. Emily Parker, and Lindsey Clar each recorded assists on Tuesday.
Moving forward, W-C looks ahead to a tough York team, which has had plenty of success historically, but will be a major underdog in this game. Jennifer Mandarano leads the Knights, who come in as the #6 seed after defeating #7 Bishop Kearney in the other Class C3 semifinal.
Stay tuned for coverage of Friday’s title game, as it’s sure to be a good one.
