We’re switching things up from last week and going with the BEST things that we saw on the internet this week.
Let’s start off this week in Des Moines, Iowa. Iowa State vs. Kansas in a Big 12 conference game. ISU’s placeholder, Austin Fischer, is absolutely electric.
Move over Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. That placeholder has taken over the top spot as the most electrifying man in sports entertainment. Firing arrows from the knee and following up with a emphatic fist pump? Lethal combo right there. College football analysts love talking about Heisman moments, and this man just had his. I wonder what his odds to win the Heisman are now… 7/4? 3/2? He has to be the favorite after week 5.
Let’s travel to the octagon now. UFC 192 took place last night, That’s when 19-year old Sage Northcutt made his UFC debut. First, let’s look at this guys fighting ability:
Throwing fists at a mind-boggling pace, and then scores a solid takedown. Not even the most impressive thing the kid did last night:
That flip looks like a glitch in a video game. Looks fake. I don’t care if there were witnesses. No man on this planet can flip that easily on flat ground. He didn’t even jump. Where’s ESPN and John Brenkus because I need a Sports Science segment on this, and I needed it yesterday.
There are few things I love more in sports than Bartolo Colon. Very, very few. In a season filled with great Bartolo moments, this might be my favorite:

A champagne-soaked, cigar in the mouth Bartolo Colon is the man this world needs. Pray for the NL. I’m not worried about deGrom, Harvey and Syndergaard. You know what those guys bring to the table. This man, however, is a wildcard. Gotta watch out for the guys like Bartolo. BFBC is going to make mincemeat of the Dodgers.
Lil B “The BasedGod” is the most powerful man in sports. It’s not even a debate anymore. What other celebrity makes professional sports teams quiver like he does? You have teams BEGGING not to be cursed. We’ve seen what happens to people who disrespect him. The MLS’ Toronto FC was at the mercy of Lil B this weekend, and thankfully a potential curse was averted.

Go scroll through Lil B and Toronto FC’s Twitters to read the whole conversation. Very happy that this situation was handled in a rational manner. Don’t wanna see anyone suffer at the hands of the almighty “BasedGod” (I’m talking to you Kevin Durant and James Harden).
To end this week, we’re going back to college football. The man, the myth, the legend. The triumphant return of Clemson Diet Coke Guy.
Two years ago, this man gave us just a taste of what was coming:
Forget about Aragorn from Lord of the Rings, THIS is the REAL return of the king:
Hurricane Joaquin isn’t bringing rain; it’s bringing charisma. Blows kisses to the people and everything. What a great leader. All hail Clemson Diet Coke Guy. College Gameday is notorious for bringing out the diehards of college football. This man has got to rank near the top of the most unique fans in recent memory.
These last two things aren’t funny, but I feel like they deserve an honorable mention. Batavia QB Greg Mruczek broke his own record for most TDs in a game on Friday. He had 5 scores in a game last year, but he dropped a 6 TD performance on Penn Yan the other night. The Blue Devils are now 5-0 on the year.
Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer tossed his second no-hitter of the season on Saturday. Although, it was against the Met’s JV squad in a meaningless game, a no-no is still impressive. Especially when he strikes out 17 hitters. Scherzer is the first pitcher since Nolan Ryan to throw two no-hitters in a season since Nolan Ryan did in 1973. Scherzer was an iffy hit by pitch call away from throwing a perfect game against the Pirates in June and then an error from throwing a perfecto against the Mets. The last month or so has been atrocious for the Nats, so this is a solid way to end the year for them. It’s still a disappointing end for a team that was the World Series favorite heading into 2015.
That’s all I have for this week. Sound off on Twitter, if you have any suggestions for next week.
