Despite leading 2-1 after two innings of play, Le Roy was unable to overcome the Cal-Mum Softball team at Batavia High School this afternoon. The Raiders absorbed the initial blow dealt by the Knights, and worked their way to an eventual 6-3 win.
A big third, and fourth inning propelled C-M to victory, sparked by a homer from Grace Walker. The Raiders’ third baseman finished the day 3/3 with the HR, a double, and two RBI.
Andrea Coyle, and Hannah Rubinrott also recorded solid days at the plate, including RBI singles – which followed Walker’s HR in the third inning. Rubinrott also put forth a strong performance inside the circle for the Raiders, allowing only four hits in the complete game victory, while striking out five.
With the win, Cal-Mum will move on to the Far West Regional where they will face Chatauqua Lake of Section VI on Saturday in Fillmore at 4:00 PM.
The Raiders last trip to the state final four was in 2016, where they lost in the NYSPHSAA Championship Game to Notre Dame of Elmira.
