Alexander Football stymies Holley behind big days from Busch and Browne

Trojans’ offense employs balanced attack in victory

The Alexander Football team moved quickly past Holley yesterday – dropping the Hawks by a final score of 51-22. The Trojans employed an extremely balanced attack in their victory, passing for 240 yards and running for about 200 as well.

Quarterback Jared Browne led the way for his team, going 10-16 for 194 yards passing and a career-high 4 TD passes to go with no interceptions for the Trojans.  Jared also ran for 23 yards on 4 carries and had an interception from his CB position. Junior QB PJ Brennan came on in relief of Browne late in the game, and was 4-6 passing for 46 yards and 1 TD pass.

In addition to their strong quarterback play, two wide receivers went over 100 yards yesterday for Alexander.

Leading the group was WR Derrick Busch who had 6 catches for 106 yards and 4 TDs (14,6,1,35), while WR Josh Szymanski added 4 catches for 105 yds – including 1 TD of 50 yards.

Running back Jake Wozniak had 12 carries for 147 yds and 2 TDs (5, 72) to wrap up the list of the Trojans’ top contributors. ‘Woz’ as he is affectionately know by his teammates and coaches, was 3/4 on extra points yesterday and had 72 total return yards on the day as well.

Lastly, Sophmore FB Job Smith opened the scoring for Alexander with a 1-yard TD run early-on in the game, while Dane Heberlein had 2 tackles and 2 interceptions, and Ricky Amico added 8 tackles from his nose tackles position on defense.

Going forward, (2-2) Alexander will look ahead to a tough matchup with (2-2) Oakfield next week, while Holley will face-off with fellow winless team Pembroke – each of which will be hoping to achieve victory for the first time this season.
