What a team. What a town.

Alexander entered this season having never won a Sectional Football Title, and many around the area did not even consider them as a Championship contender. However, the team that everyone said couldn’t, did – and they’ve now reached the mountain top for the first time in school history.

Most of the time, when a team wins a championship, they do so based on the talent which they possess, the strategy which is employed, and the breaks that go their way during the course of the game. But not the Trojans. While talented, well-coached, and certainly fortunate in the breaks they received throughout the season, the main component in Alexander’s championship season was their guts.

This was one of the toughest and most-determined teams I’ve ever seen play. And they weren’t tough nor motivated on account of their own desires – but rather, everything they did was for the TEAM.

And that’s what won them the Sectional Title last night.

Congratulations, Alexander. You deserve it.

Section V Class D Champions.
