Cal-Mum Football’s Nick Harmon was the story of the game last night in Canisteo. Throwing for 4 TDs in the Red Raiders’ 45-26 victory over the Redskins, and amassing eight total touchdowns in the Red Raiders first two contests – it is safe to say that Harmon is hot.

Before the C-M quarterback hit his stride versus the ‘Skins, however, it was the Red Raiders’ Rob Voos who carried his team throughout the early portions of Friday night’s contest.

Voos was able to explode onto the scene incredibly early in the first quarter, as he returned the opening kickoff from C-G all the way for a Cal-Mum touchdown just 13 seconds into the game. Minutes later he would add to his already strong start by returning an interception 52-yards all the way to the house for the Raiders’ second touchdown.

Following Voos’ two scores Canisteo-Greenwood would quickly strike back, as their quarterback Bobby Avery worked his way to two TDs of his own during the first frame, and with 1:17 left in the first quarter – the score was tied Voos 14 – Avery 14.

Following a back-and-forth first quarter -f it was time for Harmon to take over.

With 7:03 remaining in the first half, Harmon threw his first touchdown pass of the game to Cam Geiger following a strong drive. The score was now 21-14 Raiders, but they were not finished yet.

Following Harmon’s TD pass, a Redskins touchdown just minutes later cut the lead to 21-20 in favor of Cal-Mum. Shortly after which, Harmon would again strike through the air – this time to Marcus Middleton – which put their team back ahead by a full score 28-20 with 2:49 left in the half.

Following a stalled C-G drive, the two sides would go into the locker room with the Raiders’ eight-point lead intact.

Coming out of the break, neither side would find much of a rhythm on offense until the later portions of the third, as Josh Roides connected on a 27-yard field goal for Cal-Mum to open the second half scoring – which increased their lead to 31-20 with 1:02 left until the fourth quarter.

Following the final seconds of the third, each side entered the final minutes with the eleven-point C-M lead still standing – although it wouldn’t remain so for long. At the 7:45 mark in the fourth Harmon hurled his third touchdown of the night to Ian Lenhardt, and following a Josh Roides PAT – Cal-Mum was ahead by three scores (38-20).

Despite C-G’s Avery finding the end zone one last time with about six minutes to go in the game, Harmon added his fourth touchdown minutes later and the game would come to an end with the score 45-26 in favor of Cal-Mum.

In addition to the incredible performances from Voos as well as Harmon, the Red Raiders’ Chris Hinkley finished with 155 yards on 26 carries which made for his second-straight big day on the ground.

Next up for Cal-Mum will be Geneseo in Week 3.
