The Blue Devils completed the undefeated season on Friday night as they earned a 17-point victory over a tough Oakfield offense. The win will vault the Blue Devils into the playoffs with good position as they hope to keep their undefeated streak alive going forward.

In the Blue Devils’ win, Jake Strzelec toted the rock 28 times for 188 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead his team to victory once again. Strzelec has put together an incredible year, even with missing a few games due to injury. Taking the role as Attica’s workhorse for the entirety of the season when healthy, the big running back has been running all over defenses all season long, and will carry great momentum into the Sectional tournament.

Also performing admirably for Attica last night, Kyle Zawadski and Phil Wilshire each accumulated 8 tackles versus the Hornets. Zawadski also added an interception while Wilshire chipped in two sacks. Defensively for Attica, Wilshire has been a stalwart up front all season long. Using great strength to slice through blocks, he has been able to get to the quarterback and wreak havoc all year.

For Oakfield in a losing effort, Allen Chatt kept the Hornets in the game with strong play from the quarterback position.

Completing 21 of an astounding 52 pass attempts on the night, Chatt totaled 316 yards over four quarters while also throwing for 3 touchdowns. He also had an interception on Friday night, but overall, despite his poor completion percentage, the Hornets’ QB was able to eat up several yards at once on each of his pass attempts in order to keep his team afloat.

Catching the touchdowns from Chatt, Sal Schwable, Trent Stack, and Ryan Emery each had great days along the outside. Combining for 117 yards receiving, the trio helped the offense matriculate the ball into the end zone three separate times, proving OA’s offense had what it took to keep up with Attica.

Defensively for the Hornets, in an overall let down of a performance, a few individuals were still able to put forth notable performances.

Leading the team with 8 tackles, Jon Harris was all over the field for the away team on Friday. Jake Velletta also played well, adding 6 tackles of his own, while Devon Schroeder had 6 total as well.

With the victory, Attica will move on to the next phase of the season where they are sure to meet a worthy opponent during the Sectional round. Look for an update on their position as well as increased coverage of all area playoff teams coming soon!
