It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win.
Last night the Batavia Boys Basketball team was able to hang on to defeat Canandaigua by a final score of 44-39. As each team struggled to score the basketball throughout the game against each other’s stifling defense, the Blue Devils managed to take a 19-12 lead at halftime, and preserved it throughout the second half.
Malachi Chenault led the way for the Blue Devils offensively with 16 points including a big two-handed dunk in the second half in order to spark a bit of momentum down the stretch. In addition to Chenault’s performance, other Batavia big man Jake Schrider also performed well -scoring 9 points, including a dunk to start off the game.
In his return from suspension, Batavia’s TeeSean Ayala went 3/10 from the field and 2/8 from beyond the three point line – finishing with 8 points.
