Despite throwing the ball into traffic on several occasions vs CO, Batavia’s Greg Mruczek navigated his way to yet another Blue Devils’ victory.

The Batavia Football team beat up on Cardinal O’Hara Friday night, winning easily over the Hawks 32-8. This game was once very a sloppy one on both sides, similar to Batavia’s first contest vs UPrep.

Dom Mogavero once again carried this Batavia team on his back going for 95 yards on 17 carries and scoring 3 touchdowns, as well as picking up 4 tackles and an interception on defense.

Anthony Gallo contributed heavily in this contest as well for the Devils, as the elusive running back pitched in 63 yards and a touchdown on 9 carries through the ground game – and 6 receptions for 93 yards through the air.

Greg Mruczek provided solid play at QB going 13-22 for 182 yards and a touchdown pass to Batavia’s Trevor Sherwood.

A surprising player that has been contributing regularly thus far is Freshman Ray Leach who continued to impress rushing for 60 yards on 9 carries.  Leach will definitely be a factor for Batavia going forward this season.

Batavia’s Dom Mogavero had a fine game once again for his team.

Batavia’s defense played a much better game than last time out, holding a Cardinal O’Hara team which was coming off of a 50 point week – scoreless for three quarters.  Danny Williams and Terren Lovria played key roles in the defensive effort combining for 12 tackles, which accompanied 3 sacks from Williams.

Following the game, Batavia head coach Brennan Briggs expressed his feeling that the game was sloppy and that Batavia has a lot of work to do going forward.

“We need to work on a lot to be where we need to be” he said following the contest, “It’s kind of a disappointing game in my mind for where we need to be right now. We need to do a better job on the practice field all week.”

Briggs continued, “The good thing is we got the win, but I want to put it in the past and start focusing on Wilson and Week 3.”

A sizable crowd was on hand last night.

Despite sloppy play this week, as early as we are in the season, and as talented as a team that this Batavia squad is, I’m sure they will continue to improve as the season progresses – similar to last season. Batavia is now 2-0 and takes on Wilson next week at Sahlen’s Stadium. Tune in to @BB_Scores on Twitter for live updates throughout Week 3.
