Batavia Muckdogs win home opener over West Virginia – Encarnacion stays hot for ‘Dogs

Following a series loss to Auburn this past weekend, the Batavia Muckdogs came back with a big 9-6 win over West Virginia in the ‘Dogs home opener on Monday night.

Once again it was RF Jerar Encarnacion leading the way for the Batavia offense, recording another multi-hit game, including a double, a run scored, and 2 RBIs. Left fielder Michael Donadio also chipped in a solid performance, with two hits, including a HR, a run scored, and 3 RBIs. Center fielder Ricardo Cespedes added 2 hits of his own, including a triple, two runs scored, and an RBI.

The Muckdogs received a decent performance from starting pitcher RJ Peace, who hurled five innings while giving up seven hits and three earned runs. He struck out 5.

With the win, Batavia is now 2-2 as they look forward to another matchup vs West Virginia this evening.
