On Saturday, Elba was unable to further their chances at a Section V Championship while Batavia and Notre Dame were able to advance to the semifinals. Here is what took place:

Class A2 – Wayne no match for the Blue Devils

#1 Batavia 74 #9 Wayne 45

Beginning with Jerrrett Laskett’s onslaught of the Eagles during the first few minutes of the game, in which he scored his team’s first 11 points, Batavia cruised on Saturday.

Although Senior forward Jeff Redband was also able to explode for 28 points offensively for Batavia (last home game), it was Laskett’s initial outburst – in his last home game as a Senior – that did it for his team. Using that spark, the home squad was able to win in every phase of the game for the entire 32 minutes on their way to the easy victory.

Next up for the Devils will be an extremely tough College Prep team – who I believe will have a very good chance at beating Batavia. Stay tuned for a scouting report later in the week.

of Class D1.

Josh Johnson led the way for the Irish, as the Senior dropped 31 points in what was the last home game of his established career.

ND took an early lead against Lyndonville behind Johnson (who scored the first eight points of the game) and never relinquished it – winning the game by 22 points.

Next up for the Irish will be a strong Mt. Morris team – who is sure to present a tough challenge for this second-seeded Notre Dame team.
